HANDS-ON FIELDWORK

What You’ll Do This Summer

Gain hand-on experience across multiple conservation disciplines

Invasive Species Management

Conduct field surveys, analyze data, and implement treatment strategies for invasive species. Create detailed maps and develop community outreach materials.

Habitat Restoration

Work on prairie and wild rice restoration projects. Map restoration areas, track progress, and analyze restoration effectiveness over multiple growing seasons.

Cultural Plant Gardens

Maintain cultural and medicinal plant gardens. Support restoration efforts on culturally significant sites and analyze survey data on native plant presence.

Pollinator Conservation

Help maintain bee hives, support pollinator health initiatives, and run educational outreach programs for the community.


Water Monitoring

Maintain flume dams, calibrate environmental monitors, download and analyze water quality data, and prepare technical reports.

Seed Harvesting

Participate in prairie seed collection activities to support ongoing restoration efforts and native species propagation.

Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, or related field

Comfortable working outdoors in varied weather conditions

Available for summer months (Mid-May through August or November)

Experience Minnesota's beautiful landscapes while building your career

Primary Location

Redwood Falls, Minnesota (80% of fieldwork)

Secondary Location

Granite Falls, Minnesota (20% office/remote work)

Work Environment

Prairies, wetlands, forests, and restoration sites throughout the Minnesota River Valley

Work in diverse ecosystems while contributing to the restoration of Minnesota's natural heritage. You'll gain experience in prairie restoration, wetland management, and native plant conservation in one of the state's most ecologically significant regions.
